    Next Meeting Features Tim Kuniskis, Head of FIAT North America

    FIAT has stepped in to rescue Chrysler and is being quite aggressive in the market.  With the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands as a foundation and their dealership network to distribute, it’s clear that FIAT came to North America to sell cars of their own as well.

    Timothy B. Kuniskis, 44, was named Head of FIAT Brand in North America in November, 2011. Tim has been invited to come to WAJ and share with us what he is going to do to manage this major acquisition and bring FIAT back to North America and succeed.

    The meeting will take place at the Basque Cultural Center in 599 Railroad Avenue, South San Francisco. Socializing starts at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m.

    20th Annual “Media Day” 

    Monterey, CA

    April 9 Show 'n' Shine • April 10 Ride-and-Drive • April 11 Track Day


    The WAJ Media Day team is pleased to announce the 20th Annual Media Day will once again occur in scenic Monterey, CA.  In continuation of past tradition, the Embassy Suites in Seaside, CA will once again be the locale for this multi-day event and serve as the site of our annual banquet as well as many of our Media Day activities.

    The 20th Annual Media Day will occur over a three-day period, beginning with the Show 'n' Shine on April 9, the Ride-and-Drive on April 10, and a day at the Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca on April 11.

    If you have not already signed up, here are a few critical steps:

    For Members:

    • You must be a member in good standing of WAJ, which means:
      • Sign up at Membership Applications and Renewals 
      • Pay through Paypal online or send $50 to WAJ Treasurer Michael Coates, 17345 Grosvenor Court, Monte Sereno, CA 95030
      • Send your clips (six if new, three if renewing) to: WAJ VP Membership Steve Schaefer, 18443 Clifton Way, Castro Valley, CA 94546-2019 or via e-mail to:sdsauto@sbcglobal.net
    • Next, you need to sign up for Media Day at Member Registration 
      • You can pay there, too, via Paypal, or send a check to the WAJ Treasurer. The cost remains $80 per WAJ member; guests are $160 to cover the cost of meals, but are not allowed to drive test vehicles.
      • Your info from the registration will be used in the WAJ Media Guide, which is distributed to all members and manufacturers
      • The registration fee does not include lodging. This year our Hosting hotel will be Embassy Suites in beautiful Seaside, or the Lone Oak, also in Seaside. Be sure to contact the participating hotels at your earliest convenience to insure desired accommodations. Please mention WAJ or Western Automotive Journalists when you register to qualify for the promotional rate.
      • Registration after Sunday, April 1 increases to $160.
