From the desk of President Ron Harrison:
Congratulations and thank you to the Western Automotive Journalists, treasurer Ron Posey, secretary Jon Rosner, my right-hand guy Monty Wolf, Marsha Hall-Jenkins of General Motors and especially vice president of speaker acquisition Martin Swig, for successfully staging an evening with the head of General Motors and the WAJ membership and distinguished guests.
Bob Lutz’s appearance at this WAJ event has established a high water mark for future guest speakers!
For those of you who were able to attend: I’m sure this event will be one of the highlights of the year.
The evening began with Bob Gordon, Chairman of TheAutoChannel.com’s presentation of its “Anti-Gravity Award” for “soaring above the mundane.”
With well over 100 members and guests in attendance, “Maximum” Bob Lutz lived up to his legend as he presented General Motors’s global marketing strategy and talked about GM’s commitment to produce greener vehicles.
Despite his strained voice from many speaking engagements over the past few days, Lutz held everyone’s attention during his 55-minute PowerPoint presentation, which reflected the global-embracement of GM. The Q&A session proved to reveal candid and informative replies from the leader of the company that moves the world.
The Westin Hotel’s 5-star attention to detail made Lutz’s appearance, his PowerPoint presentation, audio support and microphones in the audience to cover the Q&A session befitting a speaker of Bob Lutz’s legendary stature.
Attendees dined on filet mignon, grilled chicken or fresh grilled salmon with fresh vegetables and a decadent dessert crafted by the Westin’s kitchen staff.
The WAJ board of directors looks forward to securing more headliner speakers for future events, including April 24th Media Day at Mazda’s Laguna Seca Raceway. If you have any suggestions for guest speaker, please, be sure to let somebody on the board know about that person.
